Bohemian Rhapsody - natalie Portman Elle Uk february

In her forthcoming film Brothers, Natalie Portmangives a heart-wrenching performance as Grace, a grieving woman torn between her husband (Tobey Maguire), a solider presumed dead while fighting in the Afghan war, and his rebellious brother who comforts her (Jake Gyllenhaal). When it opens on 22 January, Natalie will be back on the red carpet - home from home for the A-list star of Star Wars, Closer and The Other Boleyn Girl.

‘The good-girl image was something I consciously cultivated after Leon. There was a lot of controversy about the whole Lolita thing. My parents were super-protective about it, but I got a lot of weird letters. It was really upsetting. I didn’t want to be seen as a sex object, so I went the opposite direction. I’m definitely not a prude about sex or nudity, I just don’t want do something that will end up in a screen grab on a porn site.’


On dressing for the red carpet
‘I’m very against people thinking you have to buy new things every season. But I’m lucky because when I have events to go to, I get to borrow incredibly beautiful dresses that have been made by wonderful artists like Laura and Kate Mulleavy from Rodarte and Alber Elbaz from Lanvin. It’s funny, some of my actress friends and I talk about how none of us have the big wedding obsession that other girls our age have, and I think it’s because what girls experience on their wedding day happens a few times a year for us: Any time you go to a premiere, you get your hair and makeup done and everyone is looking at you. So when you’re not working, you want to be comfortable.’

I am very happy about the fashion gifts I received this Christmas from my friends. They knew that I'm a big Elle fan, so basically my gifts had something to do with Elle.


I received:
-The 1980s Françoise Baudot - Jean Demachy book
-The January issue of Elle UK
- A handmade vintage type necklace with a pink bow

This items make my Elle and magazine collection bigger. Till now I have not only the 1980s album but also the 1987-2007 Elle album, a Japan and a Venezuela Elle issue, many Elle catalogs, Elle men, Elle trends and the Elle Romania september 2007-january 2010 collection.
